Charlie Musselwhite Talks Up "The Well"

Here's a new August 2010 interview with harmonica master Charlie Musselwhite. The focus of this interview is Charlie's new CD, "The Well," out now on Alligator Records. Charlie talks in depth about the disc, which is being hailed as his most personal work to date. He's put much of himself into this project, as all the tracks are more or less autobiographical, and Charlie's either written or co-written all of 'em himself. We also go through Charlie's timeline as a musician, starting with his beginnings in Mississippi, moving through his time in Memphis (where he befriended Elvis and Johnny Cash), to his time on the South Side of Chicago hanging with greats like Muddy Waters, to his groundbreaking years out on the West Coast. We also have a little harmonica talk - who better to pick up a few tips from than Charlie! Charlie's actually out on the road right now with, believe it or not, Cyndi Lauper. He says she's an amazing artist to work with - he actually played on her current blues-influenced CD. Make sure to visit Charlie's website at www.charliemusselwhite.com for current tour dates and a bit more about Charlie's expansive history in the music business. Thanks to Charlie for the great chat. Note: the audio is a bit rough in spots due to a microphone issue - something I've already cleared up for the next interview.
