Phil Collen On Man Raze's "Punkfunkrootsrock"

Here's a brand new July 2011 interview with Def Leppard guitarist Phil Collen - talking about his side band, Man Raze. Man Raze, consisting of Collen on guitars, Paul Cook (ex-Sex Pistols) on drums, and Simon Laffy (Collen's bandmate in UK glam rock band Girl)on bass. The band is set to release their second album, titled "Punkfunkrootsrock." The album is just as the title implies: am amalgam of said styles and is a truly diverse, spirited offering. In this interview, Phil chats about the band getting together, his thoughts on the first Man Raze album ("Surreal") leading into the new disc, and the writing and recording process the band followed to get the sound they captured on this new album. I've always loved Phil's guitar tone, and I got to talk to him about that as well for a bit. Visit Man Raze online at www.manraze.com for more on the band, and audio/video samples of their music. Note: this interview will also be in print in the Northeast PA-based magazine Connections come September. Phil was optimistic about a full U.S. Man Raze tour after his commitments with Def Leppard this fall, here's hoping...
