Dennis Diken Working "Late"
Here's a brand new December 2009 interview with drummer Dennis Diken of The Smithereens. Dennis is here to chat about an amazing new project he's created, called Bell Sound. Dennis, along with fellow New Jersey musician Pete DiBella, have teamed up under the Bell Sound name to create an album called "Late Music." The new disc is ripe with lush 1960's sounding pop melodies, Brian Wilson meets Phil Spector production genius, and incredible musicianship. Dennis talks in depth about the record, including the project's inception, songwriting process, how things went down in the studio, and even how Dennis and Pete will be bringing Bell Sound to the live stage. It should be noted how refreshing it is to see an album like this being made in 2009 - the craftsmanship involved is commendable, and the fun everyone had bringing this thing to life is totally evident when you listen to it. Dennis also gives us a heads up on what's going on in The Smithereens' world as well. A big thanks to Dennis for the interview - he's a great guy and a genuine fan of music.
