Warrant's Robert Mason On "Rockaholic"
Here's a new July 2011 interview with Warrant lead vocalist Robert Mason. I was going to call him "new" vocalist, but he's actually held the Warrant gig now for about two years, more than capably stepping in after the band had stints reuniting with Jani Lane and also Jaime St. James on vocals. Warrant is back with a great new melodic hard rock record called "Rockaholic," which took up a bulk of this interview. Robert talks about the writing, recording, and his thoughts on the record. He gives a great overview of life in Warrant these days, which by all accounts, is incredibly positive and forward-thinking. Robert also gives a little background on himself, discussing his time as vocalist for Lynch Mob and Cry of Love during the 1990's. A fantastic songwriter (check out his self-penned "Home" on the new Warrant record), Robert reveals how he totally meshed with the band's personalities coming into the gig - it seemed like a natural fit. Warrant is currently on the road supporting "Rockaholic." Check them out online at www.warrantrocks.com for dates and more. Thanks to Robert for the chat, he was a very cool, down to earth guy, not to mention a witty conversationalist.
