Here's a new April 2012 interview with Wishbone Ash vocalist/guitarist/all-around main man Andy Powell. In this 30-minute chat, Andy talks in depth about the band's latest disc, "Elegant Stealth." The conversation progresses from the album's inner-workings to Wishbone Ash's history, and of course, Andy's guitar work - of which he's influenced countless six-string startups. I also talk with Andy about the band's current chemistry, his dual-guitar situation with Muddy Manninen, and also the business side of the band - Wishbone Ash has been a consistent model of independent success within the music business machinations. Other topics of interest include the band's successful AshCon and Ashfest gatherings (which cement the band's relationship with its fans), and talk about the reissue of the band's 1980 "Live Dates Volume Two," and Andy's thoughts on the "Live Dates" set. We also talk about the band's recent rockumentary - "This Is Wishbone Ash," and how the DVD plays into the overall legacy of the band, which now spans an incredible, continuous, 40-plus year history (Andy is the lone connection to the original band, a literal last man standing). The band will play the Mauch Chunk Opera House in Jim Thorpe, PA on April 28th as part of a current run of U.S. dates - info within this link. Make sure to visit the band's website at www.wishboneash.com for all things band-related. Thanks so much to Andy for the interview, he's a knowledgeable musician and a fun guy to talk music with.
