Welcome to a brand new December 2011 interview with vocalist Zak Stevens of Circle II Circle. I caught up with Zak for an update on Circle II Circle, who are about to issue a new CD in 2012, along with a tour that will see the band play the Wacken Open Air Festival in Germany. Why is this festival appearance notable, you ask? Well, Circle II Circle will be performing Savatage's "The Wake of Magellan" CD in its entirety - a record which Zak sang on as lead vocalist for Savatage. Joining him will be fellow Savatage alum Chris Caffery, with a few surprises thrown in as well - Zak gives us the lowdown on that upcoming event. I also chat with Zak about what it was like working on that particular Savatage record, recording under the masterful hand of Paul O' Neill, as well as his time in that band in general. Also in conversation is the writing process for the new C2C disc, and the addition of two new band members in drummer Jayson Moore and guitarist Andy Lee. Zak talks about C2C's evolution and the band's experiences touring the world, as well as the current challenges faced in today's musical climate. Not to be forgotten is the topic of Machines of Grace, a band Zak formed along with old friend and bandmate Jeff Plate. Machines released their brilliant self-titled debut in late 2009, and have only done a handful of live dates, due to the logistical complications of Zak's work with C2C and Plate's duties with Trans-Siberian Orchestra. Hopefully that will change, as the album is a true underrated hard rock gem (www.machinesofgrace.net). Make sure to check out Zak and C2C at www.circle2circle.net and keep up with the latest news form those guys. Thanks so much to Zak for a great chat, he's a true class act, and one of the finest voices in rock.
