A Chat With Blues Great Robert Cray

Here's a new January 2009 interview with blues icon Robert Cray. For over 25 years now, Robert has been perfecting his style of blending blues with a slick, soulful, funky sound. We talk about developing that sound in this chat, as well as Robert's career in general. Some talking points included Robert's early days on the scene in Oregon, his breakout on MTV back in 1986 with the "Strong Persuader" album, his collaborations and friendship with people like Eric Clapton, the exceptional CD he recorded back in 1985 with blues legends Johnny Copeland and Albert Collins, and his recent live CD releases. Robert also reveals that he and his band are going back into the studio in February to work on some new music, which he likely will ready for release in late 2009. Robert was very cool to talk to, and it was great to chat with such a respected artist. The guy's won 5 Grammy awards - and if you've listened to any of his music, you'll see why. Make sure you check out Robert's website at www.robertcray.com for upcoming live dates.
